Licensed Professional Counselor

Kali Smith, MS, LCMHC

Adulting is hard, and I will support you through all the stress and help you with anxiety, depression, grief, relationship problems, and other distress. I believe that the time you spend outside of therapy is even more important than the time spent in it, so I provide you with tools to take with into the real world. You and I will work together to identify concrete, attainable goals for your treatment and then guide you along the path we create.

While I specialize in helping people manage anxiety, ADHD, and life transitions, I work with a wide range of challenges that impact everyday life. Whether it’s coping with stress, adjusting to a big change, or finding better ways to focus and manage energy, I’m here to help you navigate it all. I’m also committed to creating an inclusive, non-judgmental space for everyone, with a special focus on supporting the LGBTQ+ community. My goal is to work with you to create balance, find clarity, and help you live your most authentic life.

My Education and Experience

I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in North Carolina. I received a Master of Science degree in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University. While working towards my degree, I completed a practicum and internship at a large mental health practice in Raleigh, NC. During that time, I provided counseling services to adult clients.

My Approach to Therapy

I primarily draw from the cognitive behavioral approach to therapy, but I am largely a person-centered therapist who seeks to meet you where you are and proceed from there. Unconditional positive regard is a forefront of my therapy philosophy, as I know that acceptance alone is healing. I see myself as your equal, not an authority figure. Therapy is a journey we take together. I will weave elements of solution-focused and interpersonal psychotherapy into my therapeutic approach when appropriate.

A Little More About Me

I have been part of Etheridge Psychology for more than eight years now. In my free time, I knit like crazy and spend copious amounts of time with my pets.
