Counseling for Teens

The teen years are full of change—some exciting, some confusing, and some just plain hard. At Etheridge Psychology, we understand that adolescence is not just about growing up—it is about figuring out who you are, how you fit into the world, and how to cope with everything that comes with that journey.

We provide therapy for teens who are navigating all kinds of challenges, including:

  • Anxiety, stress, and overwhelm

  • Depression or emotional ups and downs

  • Identity exploration, including gender and sexuality

  • School pressures or academic burnout

  • Social struggles, bullying, or feeling left out

  • Family conflict or communication breakdowns

  • Grief, trauma, or difficult life experiences

  • Self-harm, suicidal thoughts, or risk-taking behaviors

  • Attention, learning, or executive functioning difficulties

  • Feeling "different," misunderstood, or like they just do not fit in

We believe every teen deserves to feel seen, heard, and supported exactly as they are. That is why our work is always affirming, inclusive, and trauma-informed. We welcome neurodivergent teens, LGBTQ+ youth, and anyone who may feel like the "outsider" in their environment.

Students on a Break

Therapy with us is not about labeling or fixing—it is about creating a safe space where teens can breathe, explore what they are going through, and learn how to handle life in a way that feels manageable. Our therapists meet each teen with curiosity, kindness, and respect, tailoring care to their unique strengths, needs, and goals.

We draw from approaches such as:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and strengths-based interventions

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills for emotion regulation and relationships

  • Trauma-focused therapy and narrative processing

  • Mindfulness and grounding strategies

  • LGBTQ+ affirming practices

  • Support for ADHD, autism, and other forms of neurodivergence

  • Family support and communication coaching

Parents and caregivers are essential partners in the process. While we honor each teen's privacy and autonomy, we also work closely with families when helpful—building bridges, improving understanding, and fostering connection.

We know it can be tough to ask for help, and even tougher to find someone your teen can trust. Our job is to make that first step feel a little easier.

Whether your teen is struggling, stuck, or just needs a place to feel safe and heard, we are here. Reach out to learn more or schedule an appointment—we would be honored to support your family.
